
AFTER SCHOOL LEADERS (ASL) is our free twelve-week course for high school students (14-21). Youth receive hands-on mentorship on advanced mechanical skills such as tool usage, parts knowledge, frame painting and metalworking. This program runs Monday and Wednesday 4:30-7:30PM from March to June. Each session also includes a healthy meal and assistance with transportation. Youth also build up to two bicycles with the second bike as their “take home” bike. We go over the following:

- Bike stripping and bike painting
- Cleaning and sorting parts
- ID stamping
- Road Skills
- Helmet fitting
- Lock Safety
- Tubes and tires

- Hubs freewheels and cassettes
- Facing and cutting, tap and die, headsets, stems and bars
- Bottom brackets
- Pedals and cranks
- Wheel Truing
- Brakes
- Gears
- Safety Check
- Advocacy skills
This class has 14 spots and is generously funded by the Government of Manitoba.
